Great for lightweight hiking or backpacking

This Aqua Quest Pharaoh Bivy Bag - 100% Waterproof Sleeping Bag Cover Compact Lightweight Breathable can serve a number of uses. Paired with a featherweight summer down bag, this can take that bag another season.

Also, with a tarp and a pad, you could skip the tent in areas they arent very buggy. In fact, just the Bivy bag alone would be Ok with the usual dew and maybe even a little rain, but a small tarp would keep the rain off your face.

Finally if on a long day hike, this could be slipped into your day pack for that added insurance if you got stuck out overnight by accident.

Weighs almost nothing, is the size of s squashed flat loaf of bread.

Aqua-Quest Bivy

The bag is very roomy to accomodate a wide variety of bags and users. Zippers on both sides, inside only, for easy in and out. I used this bivy without cover in 18°F weather with 15-20 mph winds bringing the wind chill to about 0°. The bag stopped the wind and was very warm bit after a while I began to fill the inside of the bivy get vey cold to include inside the sleeping bag. However, I was wearing expedition weight fleece polyskins and skin temperature was cool but not uncomfortable. I check the bivy and had excessive condensation soaking the outside of the sleeping bag. I used a super absorbent cloth to wipe up the condensation and added a heavy fleece top quilt. I thought I might have breathed inside the bivy while sleeping. Once situated it was very warm.

Bivy bag cover

So far it is working out great as a wind barrier and cover for my sleeping bag. No complaints yet.
